About The Position

The Water Foreman works in the DPW Water Division and, in the absence of the Water Distribution Supervisor, must be able to run the Distribution Crew. The role performs general labor and skilled water-distribution work, operates and maintains equipment, and assists with equipment repair and facility upkeep. The Water Foreman is on call for emergencies and performs other work assigned or required by the Water Superintendent. The position answers directly to the Water Superintendent. This is a full-time, 40-hours-per-week position open only to current members of the Town of Bridgewater AFSCME union.

Requirements

• Must have a Hoist Engineer Class C License.
• Must have a CDL.

Responsibilities

• Run the Distribution Crew in the absence of the Water Distribution Supervisor.
• Perform general labor and skilled work such as laying pipe, installing water services, replacing valves, and, in emergencies, installing and reading water meters.
• Operate a compressor, jack hammer, water pump, backhoe, front-end loader, and truck.
• Repair leaks, dig trenches by hand, tap water mains, and repair or replace street valves.
• Assist with equipment repairs and clean the garage and stockroom.
• Adjust and maintain equipment, including greasing and oiling, repairing or replacing equipment, changing tires, and keeping equipment in good running condition.
• Be on call for emergencies and perform other work assigned or required by the Water Superintendent.
