Residential Counselor - Internal Only
About The Position
Riverside Community Care is hiring an internal Residential Counselor to provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, autism, or acquired brain injury. The role combines support, supervision, coaching, and companionship, with interactions grounded in respect for each individual’s uniqueness. Counselors encourage residents to recognize their strengths, explore opportunities, and pursue their hopes and goals. The residences are neighborhood homes typically shared by 3–5 people, with private bedrooms and shared living spaces. Staff provide ongoing guidance and support, and employees are available 24/7 according to schedules tailored to residents’ needs. The schedule for this position is Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 11 p.m.–9 a.m., totaling 30 hours per week. Pay is $20.60 per hour.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- High school degree.
- 1–2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals in maintaining their physical and emotional health and living safely in the community.
- Foster relationships between residents and their housemates, family members, and neighbors.
- Help residents develop and practice skills that promote independence, confidence, and self-determination.
- Support residents’ participation in community activities, work, and volunteer opportunities aligned with their goals and interests.
- Provide support, supervision, coaching, companionship, and ongoing guidance to residents.
- Encourage residents to identify their strengths, explore opportunities, and pursue their hopes and goals.
