Residential Counselor - Internal Only
About The Position
Riverside Community Care is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, autism, or acquired brain injury. The role helps residents learn daily living skills, build meaningful relationships, and become valued members of their communities. Support includes supervision, coaching, and companionship, delivered with respect for each person’s individuality. Counselors encourage residents to identify their strengths, explore opportunities, and pursue their hopes and goals. The residences are neighborhood homes typically shared by three to five people, with private bedrooms and common living spaces. Staff provide ongoing guidance and support, and employees are available 24/7 with schedules tailored to the needs of the people served. This internal-only opportunity is scheduled Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m., totaling 30 hours per week. The pay rate is $20.60 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Help individuals maintain their physical and emotional health and live safely in the community.
- Support residents in fostering relationships with housemates, family members, and neighbors.
- Help residents develop and practice skills that increase independence, confidence, and self-determination.
- Support participation in community activities, work, and volunteer opportunities that reflect residents’ goals and interests.
- Provide support, supervision, coaching, companionship, guidance, and ongoing assistance.
- Encourage residents to identify their strengths, explore new opportunities, and pursue their hopes and dreams.
