About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Water Resources Engineer with experience in Water and Wastewater conveyance and treatment design to join their Resilience Water Team. The role is based out of Milwaukee, WI, with potential consideration for candidates in Chicago, IL. The engineer will collaborate with experienced professionals, support project development, interact with clients, and develop technical capabilities. Arcadis offers onboarding and development programs for young professionals to foster growth, creativity, innovation, and integration within teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong capabilities in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in a design or consulting engineering firm or municipal work environment using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • EIT or the ability to obtain within 6 months of being hired.
  • Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software.
  • GIS, database management, and data analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, design, permit, and support management of projects for water/wastewater conveyance (pipelines and pumping facilities), levees, pump/lift stations, floodwalls, gates, diversion canals, and stormwater and/or maintenance dredging projects.
  • Prepare design calculations, portions of technical reports, site drainage, utility relocations, and grading plans.
  • Develop engineering plans and specifications for projects including water/wastewater conveyance and treatment, levees, pump/lift stations, floodwalls, gates, diversion canals, and stormwater and/or maintenance dredging projects.
  • Support professional engineering services during construction, including construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to RFIs, and permit closeouts.
  • Assess, develop, and support management of sustainability and resilience projects, including vulnerability and mitigation assessments, and planning and design for utilities, municipalities, and cities.
  • Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials, and participate in client meetings.
  • Support field data collection activities for permit compliance and augmenting staff support for local clients.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality, health, and safety standards.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and budget.
  • Learn and use digital tools to enhance customer experience, team and client collaboration, and project delivery, including configuration and deployment of SharePoint, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Power BI, and Augmented Reality.
