About The Position

Responsible for handling and overseeing regional efforts and projects with area water providers and wholesale water customer cities and other agencies as they relate to water conservation education. Assists in the development of comprehensive strategies and materials for education on the City of Dallas water resource planning, drought management, conservation planning and environmental related issues while developing programs and initiatives to promote improvements. These programs are aimed at providing the City of Dallas residents and landowners with science-based information about water and related natural resources, and to provide technical assistance regarding how to manage, protect, and improve those resources in order to conserve and sustain them for future generations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of water conservation, drought, water quality, and water source protection for a City.
  • Knowledge of public relations, public outreach, and communications.
  • Knowledge of coordinating and implementing water conservation initiatives and programs.
  • Knowledge of general marketing and related project activities.
  • Ability to interpret City ordinances, rules, standards, and protocols.
  • Ability to provide senior level assistance, leadership, and training to lower level project coordinators and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across the City
  • Ability to create accurate and complex reports and project documentation.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Eight (8) years of experience preparing and/or managing professional service contracts.
  • An associate degree, in any field, plus six (6) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher, in any field, plus 4 years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Understanding of Contract Compliance

Responsibilities

  • Leads, coordinates, and directs water conservation initiatives within the City and DWU department; serves as the representative for conservation issues and initiatives; spearheads public awareness campaigns and develops strong communications and content promoting the City's conservation and related projects.
  • Researches, determines, and develops programs and initiatives to address water quality, water conservation, drought concerns, and water source protection; assists in the creation of policies and program guidelines to best serve the City and its resources.
  • Reviews and researches peer city programs for benchmarking, collaboration, and to gain knew knowledge and ideas.
  • Assists and supports in general water planning and utility efforts; makes recommendations and coordinates the development of the drought contingency plan; participates in public marketing and communication work and develops materials, signage, and online or web content.
  • Manages, oversees, and coordinates all industrial, commercial, and institutional water conservation programs; oversees vendors providing free water efficiency assessments and processes all incoming applications for programs; assists in facilitating effective relationships with irrigation, plumbing, and other vendors performing water based work functions.
  • Receives, processes, and submits ICI applications; ensures all documentation is correct and that all information is submitted in a timely and professional manner.
  • Processes payments for reporting purposes; manages all information for travel and P-card usage.
  • Attends and participates in various meetings regarding conservation efforts within the City and across departments; performs training and educational development when requested and participates in various special projects.
  • Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
