About The Position

The Wastewater Technician performs maintenance tasks supporting the assembly floor and the facility, including work in the wastewater department. The role requires familiarity with the wastewater system and the ability to maintain and repair equipment, including pumps. The technician works with limited supervision, uses judgment when planning and performing tasks, and may work with a team and outside contractors. The work environment includes office-type and shop environments, with regular exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise. Some heavy lifting and considerable equipment movement are required, including lifting objects up to 70 lbs.

Requirements

• Be familiar with the wastewater system.
• Have a good work history and attendance record.
• Have a history of safe work practices.
• Be familiar with plant safety policies.
• Be able to work with little or no supervision.
• Have a high school diploma, GED, or technical school education.
• Be able to perform skills including plumbing, assisting the facilities electrician with electrical work, machine repair, plant layout, and janitorial work.
• Be familiar with and able to use hand tools and power tools common to the listed skills.
• Be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, OEM instructions, and specifications.
• Be comfortable working in a team environment and with outside contractors.
• Use considerable judgment when performing and planning tasks.
• Complete general safety, Lock-Out-Tag-Out, and HAZMAT training.
• Be able to lift objects up to 70 lbs. and move equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks supporting the assembly floor and the facility.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment, following prescribed safety regulations.
• Perform prescribed preventive maintenance on machinery, buildings, or grounds as required.
• Assist in the Dewatering Room.
• Check and repair pumps.
• Replace gear oil when necessary.
• Perform maintenance required in the wastewater department.
• Follow USDA, HACCP, plant, and safety rules and regulations.
