Wastewater System Operator 1/2/3/4
About The Position
The Wastewater System Operator performs skilled work related to construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of the city’s wastewater collection system main lines. The position may also operate machinery to clean water systems. The level hired (Operator 1, 2, 3, or 4) depends on experience and State Wastewater Collection Certification. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with possible on-call rotations and weekend work. The position is in the Water Department. Employment is conditional on passing a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school.
- Must have a Utah CDL or obtain one within six months.
- Must obtain State Wastewater Certification Grade 1 within 12 months.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Skill operating various types of tools and power equipment to perform essential functions.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with a supervisor, subordinates, and the public.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Position level depends on experience and State Wastewater Collection Certification.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with underground water systems, equipment placement, residential service locations, easements, and right-of-way specifications is preferred.
