About The Position

This position is located at the Iron Bridge Regional Water Reclamation Facility. The role encompasses various levels from Trainee to certified Operator A, B, and C, each with specific licensing and operational responsibilities. The Trainee position involves learning routine duties under close supervision to prepare for a Class C license. Certified operators perform skilled work in operating a wastewater treatment plant, making adjustments to equipment and controls according to established procedures. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring adherence to safety regulations, including annual respirator physicals and specific facial hair policies. Work is reviewed through observation and analysis of charts and reports.

Requirements

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and successful completion of science courses that relate to wastewater treatment, water reclamation, or other related area; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Florida Driver's License required.
Employees must obtain a Class C Wastewater Treatment Plant license within two (2) years of hire date and are expected to advance to full working level.
No facial hair allowed between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator face piece.
Florida Class A License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for Operator A).
Florida Class B License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for Operator B).
Florida Class C License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for Operator C).
Must have a phone or be reachable in the event of an emergency work situation.

Responsibilities

Learn routine duties in the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Prepare to obtain a Class C Treatment Plant Operator license.
Perform advanced skilled work in the efficient operation of a wastewater treatment plant on an assigned or rotating shift.
Make proper adjustments to equipment, machinery operating controls, and related control apparatus in accordance with established procedures and standards.
Perform other related work as assigned.
Report unusual or major problems to a shift supervisor for resolution.
Pass annual respirator physical and any other state mandates.
