Wastewater Plant Operator A/B/C/Trainee (Iron Bridge)
About The Position
This position is located at the Iron Bridge Regional Water Reclamation Facility. The role encompasses various levels from Trainee to Class A Operator, each with specific responsibilities in operating a wastewater treatment plant. Trainees work under close supervision to learn routine duties and prepare for a Class C license. Class C Operators perform skilled work requiring a Class C license. Class B Operators perform advanced skilled work requiring a Class B license. Class A Operators perform advanced skilled work requiring a Class A license. All levels involve making proper adjustments to equipment and controls according to established procedures. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to safety regulations, including annual respirator physicals and restrictions on facial hair that interfere with respirator seals. Employees must be reachable by phone for emergency situations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful completion of science courses that relate to wastewater treatment, water reclamation, or other related area (for Trainee).
- Valid Florida Driver's License required.
- Florida Class A License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for A position).
- Florida Class B License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for B position).
- Florida Class C License for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator required (for C position).
- Must pass annual respirator physical and any other state mandates.
- No facial hair allowed between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator face piece.
- Must have a phone or be reachable in the event of an emergency work situation.
Nice To Haves
- Employees must obtain a Class C Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license within two (2) years of hire date and are expected to advance to full working level (for Trainee).
- A one-time extension of six (6) months may be granted based on performance and approval by management and Human Resources (for Trainee).
Responsibilities
- Operate the Wastewater Treatment Plant and its related control apparatus.
- Make proper adjustments to equipment and machinery operating controls.
- Perform routine duties in the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Prepare to obtain a Class C Treatment Plant Operator license (for Trainee position).
- Perform advanced skilled work in the efficient operation of a wastewater treatment plant (for A, B, and C positions).
- Report unusual or major problems to a shift supervisor for resolution.
- Pass annual respirator physical and any other state mandates.
- Ensure no facial hair is present between the face and the sealing surface of the respirator face piece.
- Be reachable by phone in the event of an emergency work situation.
