The Environmental Services (ES) Division has one (1) vacancy for a Manager of Wastewater Planning & Community Programs. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement. The candidate's telework location must be in Minnesota or Wisconsin. The Environmental Services Division (ES) protects public health and the environment, collecting and treating over 250 million gallons of wastewater daily and maintaining an extensive regional network of nine water resource recovery facilities and over 600 miles of large interceptor sewers. The Water Planning & Capital Delivery Department plays a vital role in ensuring efficient and effective water resources management through an integrated, regional approach. The Capital program is responsible for Wastewater system planning, Customer community relationships, calculation of the municipal wastewater charge, Record drawings, and Design, construction, and commissioning of all projects in the Environmental Services Capital Program. Our purpose is to provide leadership and information to empower Met Council and local actions that ensure clean, healthy, and sustainable water resources for the region. Our vision is clean water for future generations, and our mission is to partner, plan, and provide services to protect our region's water. By 2050, the communities we serve are projected to welcome an additional 657,000 residents and 324,000 households. Accommodating this growth while navigating the challenges of climate change, emerging environmental regulations, and increasing reliance on limited or contaminated water supplies requires a collaborative, relational approach to water management. ES is working closely with communities to plan for long-term sustainable water supplies, protect and restore surface water resources, and recover resources from wastewater to ensure local and regional decisions work together to support the orderly and economic development of the region over the long term. The Manager Wastewater Planning and Community Programs will report directly to the Assistant General Manager of Water Planning Services. In this high-impact role, you will lead a team of engineers, planners, and technical staff in technical engineering analysis, regional financial policy, and municipal relationships to ensure that the wastewater system plan supports regional growth that is orderly, economical, and sustainable.
