Entry/Mid-Level Wastewater Operator
About The Position
The Wastewater Operator ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment, and other wastewater treatment equipment remain operational. The role maintains and operates a hazardous waste disposal injection well and assigned equipment, records system readings and inspections, and supports the handling and management of hazardous waste. It also includes facility grounds maintenance, storm water sampling, data entry, and recordkeeping. Additional related duties may be assigned. Republic Services is an environmental services company providing recycling, waste, special waste, hazardous waste, and field services. Requirements
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and electrical and hydraulic support systems.
- Knowledge of collection systems, including pump stations and regulator stations.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical theory, cross connections, and pumps.
- Accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple diverse responsibilities.
Nice To Haves
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record may be required for some positions.
- Wastewater Treatment Operator certification may be required for some positions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate a hazardous waste disposal injection well and assigned equipment.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Record daily system readings and inspect pump leachate.
- Trim weeds and cut grass around the facility and associated systems.
- Collect and process storm water samples as needed.
- Enter data into Excel spreadsheets and maintain system records.
- Keep records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Receive, handle, recover, dispose of, and recycle hazardous waste.
- Maintain logs and records of waste received and shipped off-site.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
