About The Position

This position is responsible for the collection of solid waste. The role involves accompanying a solid waste collection truck along an assigned route, moving and positioning cans and dumpsters, identifying hazardous wastes and other items not suitable for transport, collecting grass clippings and other yard waste, washing trucks, collecting litter from rights-of-way, and painting and repairing dumpsters. The position also includes performing related duties.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• No experience requirements.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials identification principles.
• Skill in lifting and positioning cans.
• Skill in the use of hand and yard tools.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
