About The Position

The Sanitation, Waste & Site Services Operator supports essential environmental and facility operations by managing waste streams, maintaining site cleanliness, and operating equipment to ensure safe and efficient site performance. This role plays a key part in supporting plant operations through sanitation, recycling, snow removal, and environmental compliance activities while contributing to McCain’s focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 months of related experience and/or training
  • Valid State of Maine Class B driver’s license (or ability to obtain) for dump truck and payloader operation
  • Ability to obtain McCain Forklift and Pay Loader certifications
  • Completion of McCain Operator Training Program
  • Ability to pass annual DOT driver physical examination
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts, loaders, tractors, and ¾ ton plow trucks
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and willingness to comply with all safety regulations
  • Ability to work variable schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in outdoor environments

Responsibilities

  • Support general waste treatment and screen house operations
  • Manage site-wide waste and recycling streams, including collection and transport
  • Perform building and yard maintenance tasks, including seasonal snow removal
  • Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, loaders, dump trucks, tractors, and plow trucks in accordance with company policies
  • Maintain propane tank inventory and ensure safe handling and transport
  • Maintain salt supplies for boilers, ADR systems, and water softeners
  • Operate and maintain mud systems, including mud removal from the Mud Hut
  • Assist with environmental initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental objectives
  • Build strong working relationships with site personnel to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Follow McCain Competitive Edge and Lean Manufacturing practices aligned with SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People)
