About The Position

This position involves riding on the rear of a collection truck, dismounting to collect bags, boxes, and bundles of brush, and loading them into the truck for transport to the Irving landfill or the Municipal Recycling Facility. The role also includes assisting in unloading materials at these facilities. Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions and requires frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds with assistance. A common language for safety communication is necessary, and a valid Class C Texas driver’s license must be obtained. The normal schedule is 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., four days per week. The pay grade is GG13, with a full pay range of $20.85 - $29.38 per hour.

Requirements

• Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to communicate in English at a level necessary for successful job performance, such as in emergencies or other situations in which workers must speak a common language to promote safety.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Class C Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Riding on the rear of a collection truck.
• Getting on and off the truck to pick up bags, boxes, and bundles of brush.
• Loading collected materials into the back of the truck.
• Transporting materials to the Irving landfill or the Municipal Recycling Facility.
• Providing assistance in unloading materials at the landfill or Municipal Recycling Facility.
• Working outdoors under a variety of weather conditions.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Lifting up to 100 pounds with the assistance of other employees.
