About The Position

The Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold District’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. The Wash Bay Attendant is responsible for the safe and efficient cleaning, washing, and basic inspection of mobile mining equipment in an open pit mining environment. This role supports equipment reliability, preventative maintenance, and overall mine safety by ensuring equipment is clean, service-ready, and free of debris, mud, and material buildup.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Previous experience in a wash bay, mining, construction, or heavy equipment environment is considered an asset
  • Basic understanding of mobile mining equipment is an advantage
  • Ability to recognize potential mechanical issues during visual inspections
  • Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Strong awareness of workplace safety and hazard recognition
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Physically capable of performing repetitive tasks

Responsibilities

  • Wash and steam clean heavy mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, drills and support vehicles
  • Remove dirt, grease, oil, and material buildup from equipment, components, and undercarriages
  • Conduct basic visual inspections during cleaning to identify leaks, damage, excessive wear, or missing components and report findings to maintenance personnel
  • Maintain wash bay cleanliness, organization, and proper drainage
  • Safely operate wash bay equipment, including pressure washers, steam cleaners, pumps, and related tools
  • Handle and dispose of waste materials in accordance with site environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Follow all site safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols
  • Always wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Assist maintenance personnel as required with minor tasks related to equipment servicing
  • Complete required documentation and reports accurately and on time
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around active mining equipment
