About The Position

Warrior Care Support Coordinators (WCSC) The Air Force (AF) Wounded Warrior Program (AFW2) works in support of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and the Defense Health Agency (DHA) to ensure all seriously and very seriously Wounded, Ill and/or Injured (WII) service members who medically retire or separate or returned to duty of the Department of Defense (DOD) receive advocacy, information, resources, and entitlements and services. The program develops procedures IAW with DoD and Air Force directives to assist wounded warriors in either transitioning back into the civilian sector or return to duty. The AFW2 Program includes all Airmen and Guardians who suffer a serious or very serious injury or illness and require long-term care and assistance. Warrior Care Support Coordinators (WCSC) The WCSC will work closely with service members and their families, ensuring they receive the care, resources, and support needed throughout their recovery journey. This role requires a high level of organization, empathy, and the ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive tasks with precision. WCSC will support events that provide programs and services to recovering service members to include pre-travel coordination, load in/out, setup, program inventory, breakdown, driving and support roles. WCSC is responsible for a wide range of services, including direct support to service members, managing enrollment processes, coordinating complex travel arrangements, and executing outreach and support programs. The WCSC will be assigned roles based on operations and priorities.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification shall include a bachelor's degree OR Minimum of three years of relevant experience working in a military organization and/or recovery program and experience working with military Emergency Family Member Travel.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Warrior Support: Provide support, update case notes in the case management system.
  • Support care events by managing logistics, including pre-travel coordination, setup, inventory management, and breakdown.
  • Collaborate with Recovery Care Coordinators (RCC) and Transition Case Coordinators (TCC) to assist service members with their goals.
  • Program Enrollment & Administration: Manage the Enrollment and Airman Support (EAS) process, including understanding eligibility criteria, and processing all referrals in a timely manner.
  • Complete enrollment procedures and communicate information to relevant commanders and coordinators.
  • Develop tools to track tasks and metrics, maintaining a 95% timeliness rating on program data goals.
  • Submit monthly metrics reports to leadership.
  • Emergency & Event Travel: Manage the 24/7 Emergency Family Member Travel (EFMT) mission, preparing travel authorizations and vouchers in the Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Serve as an expert on the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) to ensure compliance with all travel arrangements.
  • Counsel travelers on reimbursements and travel policies.
  • Create and monitor travel authorizations and vouchers for care events, ensuring completion within established timelines.
  • Handle complex travel scenarios, including privately owned vehicle travel and personally procured airfare, by creating Constructed Travel Worksheets (CTW).
  • Communications & Outreach: Develop and execute a monthly social media plan, creating content to promote the AFW2 program and its initiatives.
  • Manage the "Warrior Wednesday" recognition program.
  • Serve as a public representative of the AFW2 program, with outstanding written and oral communication skills for public speaking and workshops.
  • Facilitate monthly discussions on outreach activities and track feedback from events.
  • Mentorship & Community Programs: Manage the Recovering Airman Mentorship Program (RAMP), including providing training and pairing mentors with recovering service members.
  • Develop and manage community-based programs focused on resiliency, including planning "Care Fairs."
  • Research and disseminate information on resiliency-focused opportunities and events to warriors and caregivers.
  • Social Media: Develop social media posts to promote the AFW2 program
  • Develop and maintain a monthly social media plan that includes monthly social media products (ex. Digital graphic, story reel, video, etc.), calendars of upcoming events.
