About The Position

This role involves assisting with the design, planning, and organization of employee orientation and training programs. The trainer is responsible for having a comprehensive understanding of various warehouse functions and leading by example. Key duties include ensuring adherence to good warehousing practices, safety protocols, customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and maintaining inventory accuracy, all while remaining inspection-ready. The position requires upholding a strong safety culture and complying with company policies. The trainer will evaluate training needs, develop training materials, and deliver specific programs to enhance employee skills or ensure compliance with updated regulations. They will utilize various instructional techniques and formats to present information, gauge training effectiveness, and maintain accurate training records. Additionally, the role involves assisting with class scheduling, providing mentorship to new or developing employees, evaluating and coaching employee performance, and assisting in maintaining compliance with training requirements. The trainer may also be required to act as a Warehouse Associate when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of warehouse understanding and experience.
  • Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with assistance.
  • Work in a temperature range from +50°F to -30°F with moderate noise levels.
  • Lift overhead when required.
  • May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or standing, walking, using stairs, and lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, vision, and hearing are essential for safety and productivity.
  • Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment as required.
  • Operate a registered motor vehicle if apart of daily tasks.
  • Engage in frequent personal interaction and communication.
  • Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.
  • Follow verbal instructions, written instructions, and company policies.
  • Be a self-starter, able to work independently and coordinate with others.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing stress and meeting productivity guidelines.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in appearance and communications at all times.
  • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings as required.
  • Take initiative to prevent non-conformities related to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identify and report any issues related to product, processes, and/or quality.
  • Propose and implement solutions through appropriate channels.
  • Ensure solutions are effectively implemented.
  • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
  • Participate in safety and educational training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the designing, planning, and organizing of orientation and training programs for employees.
  • Be responsible for overall knowledge of the various warehouse functions and lead by example.
  • Ensure and maintain good warehousing practices, safety, customer SOPs, and inventory accuracy while remaining inspection ready.
  • Uphold a safety culture while abiding by company policy.
  • Evaluate training needs through consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives.
  • Obtain, organize, or develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
  • Offer specific training programs to help workers maintain or improve job skills or comply with updated policy or regulation changes.
  • Present information with a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
  • Gauge training effectiveness and accurately maintain training records.
  • Assist in scheduling classes based on availability of employees, equipment, or instructors.
  • Provide mentorship to new employees or those who need additional coaching.
  • Evaluate and coach employee performance given LMS program best practices and work to develop skills in employees.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with local, corporate, and external training requirements.
  • Act as a Warehouse Associate when needed.
