About The Position

This position is responsible for efficiently operating equipment used in the Logistics Department, including all processes related to preparing seed for customer delivery. This encompasses receiving, drying, ECW processes, cleaning, sizing, inventory, treating, packaging, and sampling. The role also requires maintaining a clean work area, warehouse, and facility, and participating in equipment maintenance. The technician will perform quality checks, data entry, and training for new staff. Compliance with safety regulations and company policies is essential, including specific training and application of GSPP handling protocols for relevant seeds.

Requirements

  • Excellent visual discrimination and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to perform accurate detailed work under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Ability to adjust to seasonal surges in workload.
  • Ability to safely operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on mill equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
  • Prior forklift operation experience.
  • Minimum five years of milling/warehouse experience required.
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds on a regular/daily basis.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and other irritating substances.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment when required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in dusty, hot, and cold conditions.
  • Availability to work overtime during busy times of the year.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently operate and clean required seed conditioning, seed enhancement, and packaging equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment within the Logistics Department.
  • Meet or exceed established target throughput for assigned areas while maintaining quality requirements.
  • Support other Logistics workstations or company departments during slow times as assigned.
  • Oversee staffing and department operations for any secondary shift when needed.
  • Act as a point of contact and temporarily lead departments in the absence of the Lead.
  • Prepare required documentation for communication with the Lead and other staff members.
  • Assist the Lead in CAPEX planning, installations, and the budgeting process.
  • Perform necessary quality checks, including seed counting, moisture testing, and physical purity.
  • Perform data entry, data analysis, and data recording for each process.
  • Complete required reports, such as the ECW report.
  • Train new and temporary staff on processes and procedures.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly workstation and assist in maintaining cleanliness throughout the warehouse.
  • Comply with SAI, State, and Federal Safety requirements and promote company programs to minimize injuries and losses.
  • Participate in mandatory training regarding GSPP handling protocols and procedures and apply them during the handling of GSPP seeds.
  • Perform milling and packaging activities related to the GSPP seed.
  • Follow all SAI quality assurance, policies, and procedures.
  • Raise issues with the Supervisor or Lead when policies or procedures are unclear or not working.
  • Keep the Supervisor or Lead informed of critical tasks not done and developing issues.
