About The Position

The CNC Machinist – Milling plays a vital role in producing precision-machined components within a dynamic job shop manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and adjusting CNC milling machines to ensure high-quality part production that meets tight tolerances and customer specifications. The machinist must be able to interpret technical drawings, work independently, and demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills. Experience with conversational programming—especially on Mazak equipment—is highly desirable. This role directly supports the overall productivity, accuracy, and quality standards of the company’s manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in a job shop machining environment
  • Proficiency operating CNC milling machines
  • Experience programming conversational controls (Mazak experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, indicators)
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with bar code scanning and production tracking tools
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks)
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a machinist, specifically with CNC milling machines.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and technical drawings.

Nice To Haves

  • Conversational programming experience required; Mazak experience preferred
  • Certification in CNC machining or manufacturing technology preferred
  • Familiarity with quality control tools and inspection methods
  • Understanding of bar code inventory systems and basic warehouse functions

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines according to production work orders and technical specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, part drawings, and machining instructions to determine operational procedures.
  • Program and adjust conversational controllers directly at the machine (Mazak experience preferred).
  • Monitor machine operations and inspect parts to ensure they meet defined specifications and tolerances.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Utilize bar code scanning systems for inventory tracking and production recording.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Organize and palletize finished goods in preparation for storage or shipment.
  • Follow all safety protocols, housekeeping procedures, and workplace standards.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers to identify and resolve production issues.
