About The Position

Hajoca Corporation, a large privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies, is seeking a Warehouse Teammate/Delivery Driver for its Rex Pipe and Supply location in Canton, OH. Founded in 1858, Hajoca operates on principles of Service, Integrity, and Reliability, emphasizing trust and support among teammates, customers, and suppliers. The company functions in a decentralized environment where each Profit Center (PC) is managed like a small business, comprising a warehouse, counter, sales office, and sometimes a showroom. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate fulfillment of customer orders and providing excellent customer service in a safety-oriented manner.

Requirements

  • Ability to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
  • Driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years.
  • 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material.
  • Stocking and maintaining the warehouse; picking, documenting, and packing customer orders.
  • Handling shipping discrepancies or forwarding appropriate paperwork.
  • Identifying and storing nonstock, special-order, and damaged material in proper warehouse locations.
  • Completing necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier.
  • Loading and unloading trucks, operating warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Informing immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise.
  • Ensuring security and controls are in place to protect Profit Center assets.
  • Maintaining warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety, including removing debris and reporting safety issues.
  • Assisting co-workers in servicing customers.
  • Performing all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards.
  • Successfully completing required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Operating trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Loading trucks with merchandise for delivery, ensuring proper securing of the load.
  • Understanding shipping documents and having accurate directions to delivery destinations.
  • Reviewing shipping documentation and ensuring order accuracy.
  • Unloading correct merchandise from the truck and placing it as directed by the receiving party, obtaining signatures for all deliveries.
  • Collecting and securing outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries.
  • Working with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies.
  • Loading trucks at other locations with merchandise from vendors, customers, or other wholesalers.
  • Providing sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspecting the truck and required parts/accessories for safe operating condition prior to departure.
  • Keeping the truck clean of debris in the cab and body.
  • Advising management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Completing the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for vehicles over 10,001 lbs. GVWR if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Removing truck keys at the end of the workday and storing them in the approved location.
