About The Position

This role is for a Warehouse Teammate/Delivery Driver who thrives on providing excellent customer service, is safety and service-oriented, and possesses the attention to detail necessary for accurate order fulfillment. The position involves both warehouse duties and driving responsibilities. As a Warehouse Teammate, responsibilities include receiving and verifying vendor shipments and customer returns, stocking and maintaining the warehouse, picking, documenting, and packing customer orders, and handling shipping discrepancies. The role also involves loading and unloading trucks, operating warehouse equipment like forklifts, identifying nonstock and damaged materials, completing shipping documentation, and ensuring warehouse cleanliness and safety. As a Delivery Driver, responsibilities include safely operating trucks in compliance with company rules and regulations to various destinations. This involves loading and securing merchandise, understanding shipping documents, delivering correct merchandise, obtaining signatures, collecting payments for cash sales, resolving discrepancies with customers, and loading merchandise picked up from vendors or returned by customers. The driver will also provide sales leads, inspect the truck daily, report mechanical issues, and complete inspection reports as required.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 26,001 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) for the vehicle(s) being driven, with hazmat endorsement if operating a vehicle that requires placarding for hazardous materials.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
  • 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material.
  • Stocking and maintaining the warehouse; and picking, documenting, and packing customer orders.
  • Handling all shipping discrepancies per procedures or forwarding appropriate paperwork.
  • Identifying nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and storing in proper warehouse locations.
  • Completing necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier.
  • Loading and unloading trucks, operating warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Informing immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise.
  • Ensuring security and controls are in place to protect Profit Center assets.
  • Maintaining warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety.
  • Assisting co-workers in servicing customers.
  • Performing all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards.
  • Successfully completing required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Operating trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Loading the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered and securing the load properly.
  • Ensuring that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
  • Affixing the appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials in excess of 1,000 lbs.
  • Understanding the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery and having accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Reviewing shipping documentation and ensuring order accuracy.
  • Unloading correct merchandise from the truck and placing it where the receiving party wants it.
  • Obtaining legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collecting and securing outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
  • Working with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Loading the truck at other locations with merchandise.
  • Providing sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
  • Inspecting the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure.
  • Keeping truck clean of debris in cab and body.
  • Advising management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Completing the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Removing keys from the truck and storing keys in the approved location at the end of the workday.
