About The Position

This role is for a Warehouse Teammate/Delivery Driver who thrives on providing excellent customer service, is safety and service-oriented, and possesses the attention to detail necessary for accurate order fulfillment. The position involves both warehouse duties and driving responsibilities. As a Warehouse Teammate, responsibilities include counting, verifying, and receiving vendor shipments and customer returns, stocking and maintaining the warehouse, and picking, documenting, and packing customer orders. The role requires a high attention to detail to ensure customer satisfaction, handling shipping discrepancies, identifying and storing nonstock/special-order/damaged material, and completing documentation for third-party shipments. Duties also include loading/unloading trucks, operating warehouse forklift and material handling equipment safely, informing supervisors of stock depletions or discrepancies, ensuring security of company assets, and maintaining warehouse cleanliness and safety. Assisting coworkers and adhering to safety standards and training are also key aspects. As a Delivery Driver, responsibilities include operating trucks safely and in compliance with regulations to various destinations. This involves loading the truck with merchandise, securing the load properly, ensuring necessary unloading equipment is available, and affixing DOT hazmat placards if applicable. The driver must understand shipping documents, have accurate directions, review shipping documentation for order accuracy, unload correct merchandise, and obtain signatures for deliveries. Collecting payments for cash sales and resolving shipping discrepancies with customers are also part of the role. The driver will also load merchandise from vendor locations, customer returns, and other wholesalers. Providing sales leads and inspecting the truck for safe operating condition are required. Completing the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for vehicles over 10,001 lbs GVWR when defects are found, removing keys at the end of the day, and completing assigned safety and compliance training are also necessary.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 26,001 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
  • 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
  • Experience operating a 16' stake bed truck with a lift gate is required.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material.
  • Stocking and maintaining the warehouse; and picking, documenting, and packing customer orders in accordance with Company policy and procedure.
  • Acting with a high attention to detail to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Handling all shipping discrepancies per procedures or forwarding appropriate paperwork to designated employee to handle.
  • Identifying nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and storing in proper warehouse locations.
  • Completing necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier.
  • Loading and unloading trucks, operating warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Informing immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise that could impact customer service levels.
  • Ensuring security and controls are in place and upheld to protect Profit Center assets.
  • Maintaining warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety. Removing empty cartons, metal bands, pallets, and other debris.
  • Assisting co-workers in servicing customers.
  • Performing all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards.
  • Successfully completing required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
  • Operating trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Loading the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered.
  • Securing the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck.
  • Ensuring that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
  • Affixing the appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials in excess of 1,000 lbs.
  • Understanding the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery and having accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Reviewing shipping documentation and ensuring order accuracy.
  • Unloading correct merchandise from the truck and placing it where the receiving party wants it.
  • Obtaining legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collecting and securing outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
  • Working with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Loading the truck at other locations with merchandise.
  • Providing sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
  • Inspecting the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location.
  • Keeping truck clean of debris in cab and body.
  • Advising management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Completing the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Removing keys from the truck and storing keys in the approved location at the end of the workday.
