About The Position

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing cargo handling activities and ensuring loads are secured in accordance with established safety and operational standards. This role provides direct supervision to a team of warehouse employees and is accountable for all aspects of people leadership, including hiring, work assignment, training, performance management, corrective action, and terminations. This is a hands‑on leadership position requiring active participation in day‑to‑day warehouse operations, including the manual loading and unloading of materials from pallets, skids, platforms, rail cars, and lifting devices. The Warehouse Supervisor will ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with Sierra Forest Products’ policies and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of warehouse operations experience
  • Proven experience coaching, developing, and leading employees
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate teams to meet performance goals
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively in fast‑paced, changing environments
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions
  • Experience with inventory monitoring and control
  • Certified or experienced in counterbalance forklift operation
  • Ability to perform repetitive lifting of 50 lbs. or more

Responsibilities

  • Manage the receipt, handling, distribution, and storage of designated freight, products, and supplies within the warehouse
  • Ensure the accuracy and completion of daily picking and delivery preparation activities
  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads in compliance with established safety and regulatory requirements
  • Inspect and verify incoming and outgoing shipments prior to authorization and sign‑off
  • Manually load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, vehicles, and lifting devices as required
  • Prepare and maintain shipping documentation, including bills of lading and invoices
  • Supervise warehouse staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, disciplinary action, and terminations
  • Coordinate warehouse operations by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating duties effectively
  • Maintain shift schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels and operational coverage
  • Ensure bi‑weekly timesheets are completed accurately and submitted on time
  • Analyze departmental operations to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
  • Plan and optimize warehouse layout and space utilization to prevent loss or damage and maximize operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Enforce safe work practices and ensure adherence to health and safety requirements
  • Ensure all employees are properly equipped with and consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
