About The Position

Responsibility is to oversee warehouse operations on a shift level, including related issues. This includes, but is not limited to, supervising all Warehouse personnel, reviewing all documentation for completeness and accuracy, enforcing all policies and procedures. Supervisor is responsible to ensure that all warehouse areas are clean and orderly at all times.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience.
  • Three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift required: Must successfully complete NJ Malin “Safety On The Move” Forklift certification course with Ajinomoto.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as to keep track of and forecast product inventory and product movement.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Word processing, E-mail, Order processing, Inventory, Manufacturing MRP software, JDE desired.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising Warehouse Staff: Supervises approximately 10-20 warehouse and dry warehouse workers per shift, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assure adequate staffing to meet warehouse needs and communicate staffing needs to Warehouse Manager.
  • Provide concise reports regarding all shift activities.
  • Help create, implement, and monitor training programs (i.e. Safety, GSP, GMP) and recommend changes needed to ensure success.
  • Work with the warehouse Manager to analyze current procedures and develop new procedures to improve warehouse operations and enforce Company policies.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained and certified regarding equipment operation, sanitation and safety.
  • Assist with critical job functions of Warehouse Manager when they are out of the office.
  • Material Handling Equipment: Ensure all equipment and facilities are inspected daily and maintained properly, and timely request repairs.
  • Ensure all powered equipment is charged as needed and charging procedures are followed, including checking fluids and weekly equalizing charges.
  • Immediately lock out tag out material handling equipment which is unsafe or has not been properly inspected or maintained.
  • Shipping: Assist in coordinating delivery schedules and trucking appointments to optimize efficiency. Verify quantities staged for out bounds. Review all logs and documents for completeness and accuracy. Ensure all scheduled pickups are made and trucks are loaded correctly to eliminate damage during shipping. Monitor truck drivers and enforce dock rules.
  • Receiving: Oversee the receiving of raw and other materials to ensure receiving procedures are followed. This includes correctly entering receipts into the inventory control computer program and DSI barcode system. Update ERP and EDI systems as required. Ensure the proper dating and labeling of all pallets received. Check receipts to verify accuracy of counts. Ensure all scheduled deliveries are made. Coordinate the inspection of raw materials with QA prior to signing for receipt of product.
  • Storage: Oversee the timely and efficient racking of all finished goods and raw materials. Ensure the organization of the freezers, warehouses, and dock. Support organization of product to support FIFO rotation and physical counts. Ensure that all pallets of product and/or material are in good condition. Monitor movement of material to ensure there is no unnecessary handling.
  • Safety: Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety rules within freezer, warehouse, and dock areas; promptly report all workplace accidents, injuries and unsafe incidents. Ensure warehouse workers are using the required personal protective gear.
  • Cycle Counts (Inventory Control): Assist with daily/weekly cycle counts and year-end inventory audit. Identify and resolve count discrepancies between actual count and book count. Perform all functions to track and monitor all materials and material movement in all computer systems to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Cleaning and Organization: Ensure that dock, warehouse, freezer and yard are swept and cleaned daily, and conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance. Follow all HACCP program requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Stocking, Pulling, and Transferring Material: Ensure production stays stocked with packaging, ingredients, pallets, etc. Ensure correct and on-time product flow through all departments across all shifts. Ensure all material transfers to production are entered into the inventory control computer program and update ERP and EDI systems as required.
