About The Position

Provide direct supervision to shipper(s), receiver(s), material handlers and driver(s). This role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the materials department unit, ensuring efficient and safe warehouse operations.

Requirements

Two-year college degree required.
Supervise 4-6 employees.
Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies.
Ability to train employees.
Ability to plan, assign and direct work.
Ability to appraise performance.
Ability to reward and discipline employees.
Ability to address complaints and resolve problems.

Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision to shipper(s), receiver(s), material handlers and driver(s).
Assure on-time shipments by monitoring orders, assigning internal resources, coordinating with other departments and working with transportation resources.
Assure accuracy of material movement transactions including receipts, shipments and inter/intraplant transfers.
Identify and implement improvements that improve the accuracy of material movement transactions.
Monitor efficiency of material handling activities and identify and implement improvements.
Reconcile freight bills with actual shipments.
Route interplant trucking.
Assist shipper and receiver in scheduling receipts and shipments.
Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of warehouse areas.
Ensure safe operation of warehouse including leading fork truck safety.
Train new employees, provide performance feedback and deliver performance appraisals.
Supervise 4-6 employees in the materials department.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies.
Assign and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems.
