This role provides direction to co-workers to ensure that all shipping documents and functions are completed accurately and in a timely manner. The lead ensures that the least cost carrier is selected and used as the appropriate transporter, and maximizes parcel weight by combining product to be shipped to the same customer. The position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with two years of related experience being highly preferred. The role also demands computer literacy, spreadsheet experience, and the ability to work accurately with numbers. The lead is expected to demonstrate role model work habits, foster teamwork, enhance team morale, conduct on-the-job training, and provide constructive feedback. They must also continually seek opportunities to improve department operations and encourage team members to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Additionally, the lead must achieve and maintain certifications required to operate equipment, perform safety checks, and report machine problems. They should be willing to be cross-trained as a lead in other departments. Employees are expected to participate in safety and health program activities, including reporting hazards and incidents, wearing required personal protective equipment, and supporting safety committee activities.
