About The Position

Ryder is immediately hiring permanent full-time Skilled Construction Laborers for their warehouse manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. This position involves ensuring expert craftsmanship in repairing or assembling pallets using various hand and power tools in a safe warehouse environment. The role operates on a second shift, Monday through Friday, from 4:00 pm to 12:30 am. Training is provided and paid, with an hourly rate during training and a piece rate applying afterward. The company emphasizes safety, state-of-the-art equipment, and a supportive work environment, contributing to distribution across the US.

Requirements

Ability to comprehend basic math
Ability to operate power tools in a safe manner
Must be able to follow repair process
Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis
Must be able to use proper techniques to lift a minimum of 75 lbs
Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8-hour day)
Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements
Tool experience required

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
0 to 1 year in carpentry or construction background preferred

Responsibilities

Use a pneumatic nail gun, powered saw, and other powered/hand tools to repair or assemble pallets
Place pallets on repair table, remove defective boards, replace with new boards and secure boards into place
Safely and securely repair pallets at a rate that meets company standards and in a manner that meets company safety standards
Operate a pry bar to detach damaged boards from the pallets
Operate a hammer, grinder and a saw to remove existing nails and use a 25 lb nail gun to nail together the components
Manually lift 70 lb pallets from a stack to a repair table
Ensure pallet meets and passes CHEP's quality control audit
Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area
Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety
Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards
Wear all safety equipment while repairing pallets
Perform other duties as required
