About The Position

Ryder is immediately hiring permanent full-time Skilled Construction Laborers for their warehouse manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. This role focuses on pallet repair, requiring expert craftsmanship. Operators will utilize various tools including pneumatic nail guns, powered saws, hammers, pry bars, and grinders to repair or assemble pallets. The process involves placing pallets on a repair table, removing defective boards, replacing them with new ones, and securing them into place. The position demands standing for long periods (8-10 hours) and lifting up to 75 pounds throughout the entire shift. Ryder emphasizes a safe warehouse environment with state-of-the-art equipment and provides safety gear. This role is crucial for supporting distribution across the US.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 0 to 1 year in carpentry or construction background preferred
  • Ability to comprehend basic math
  • Ability to operate power tools in a safe manner
  • Must be able to follow repair process
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to use proper techniques to lift a minimum of 75 lbs
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8-hour day)
  • Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements
  • Tool experience required

Responsibilities

  • Will use a pneumatic nail gun, powered saw, and other powered/hand tools to repair or assemble pallets
  • Placing pallets on repair table, removing defective boards, replacing with new boards and securing boards into place
  • Stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours) and lift up to 75 pounds throughout entire shift
  • Safely and securely repair pallets at a rate that meets company standards and in a manner that meets company safety standards
  • Operate a pry bar to detach damaged boards from the pallets
  • Operate a hammer, grinder and a saw to remove existing nails and use a 25 lb nail gun to nail together the components
  • Manually lift 70 lb pallets from a stack to a repair table
  • Ensure pallet meets and passes CHEP's quality control audit
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area
  • Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety
  • Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards
  • Wear all safety equipment while repairing pallets
  • Performs other duties as required
