Lead Package Handler - Richmond
About The Position
The Warehouse Package Handler Lead oversees the offloading, loading, sorting, and inspection of packages for distribution. The lead works closely with Area and Operations Managers to train new hires, support business metrics, and uphold company values. The role promotes a safe work environment, supports package-handling accuracy, monitors equipment, and coordinates with third-party drivers. The position is based at 4339 Carolina Ave. Bldg. E, Richmond, VA 23222. Pay is $18.00 per hour. The scheduled shift is Tuesday through Saturday, 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM; hours may change based on business needs.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of industry experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Regularly lift, push, and pull 25–35 lbs.; occasionally carry up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 150 lbs. using a pallet jack or gaylords to transport large packages.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Enforce company safety protocols, including dock, conveyor, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Train and guide Package Handlers through hands-on demonstrations and ongoing performance feedback.
- Oversee package handling, sorting, and inspection to ensure accuracy, prevent damage, and avoid misroutes.
- Monitor equipment functionality, submit maintenance requests, and manage damaged freight according to company procedures.
- Check in and out third-party drivers, verify credentials, and ensure proper documentation and manifest accuracy.
- Work with Area and Operations Managers to support business metrics and uphold company values.
