About The Position

OnTrac is hiring a Lead Package Handler to oversee package offloading, loading, and sorting for distribution. The lead works closely with Area and Operations Managers to train new hires, support business metrics, and uphold company values. The role also involves promoting safety, guiding Package Handlers, maintaining accurate package handling and documentation, and supporting equipment and freight procedures.

The position is based at 4339 Carolina Ave., Building E, Richmond, Virginia 23222. Pay is $18.00 per hour. The scheduled shift is Tuesday through Saturday, 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM; hours may change based on business needs.

Requirements

• One year of industry experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Regularly lift, push, and pull 25–35 pounds; occasionally carry up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 150 pounds using a pallet jack or gaylords to transport large packages.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe work environment by enforcing company safety protocols, including dock, conveyor, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Train and guide Package Handlers through hands-on demonstrations and ongoing performance feedback.
• Oversee package handling, sorting, and inspection to ensure accuracy, prevent damage, and avoid misroutes.
• Monitor equipment functionality and submit maintenance requests.
• Manage damaged freight according to company procedures.
• Check in and check out third-party drivers, verify credentials, and ensure proper documentation and manifest accuracy.
