About The Position

This position is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the receiving, storing, packaging, and shipping of materials and equipment. The role involves manual labor, operation of equipment like pallet jacks, and adherence to safety and regulatory procedures, including those for hazardous materials and mail processing. The Warehouse Materials Handler also assists with inventory, property disposition, furniture management, and coordinating moves and installations for hospital events and projects. A valid driver's license is required, and Navajo/Indian Preference in Employment is implemented.

Requirements

  • Valid, unrestricted, insurable driver’s license.
  • Two years of direct experience in warehousing, logistics, shipping, and receiving.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE).
  • Ability to follow instructions on proper handling to ensure safety.
  • Ability to maintain records, files, logs, and reports.
  • Ability to coordinate billing activities.
  • Ability to maintain the hospital mail room.
  • Ability to unload and pack trucks and courier vans.
  • Ability to deliver and set up equipment, tables, and chairs for events.
  • Ability to perform analysis of existing furniture.
  • Ability to assist departments with research and selection of furniture, design layouts, and procurement.
  • Ability to coordinate delivery and assembly of furniture.
  • Ability to apply knowledge, analysis, and management of office moves.
  • Ability to coordinate moves and renovations with other departments.
  • Ability to coordinate delivery and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment items.
  • Ability to provide logistical services.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and unloads freight manually and with equipment such as pallet jacks.
  • Checks for damaged goods, verifies quantity and quality of orders, and reconciles received items with packing lists and purchase documents.
  • Initiates corrective action for overages, shortages, improper conditions, or damaged shipments and completes necessary documentation.
  • Wraps, packages, and ships supplies, equipment, and other materials.
  • Handles, documents, and ships hazardous material, ensuring compliance with Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) procedures.
  • Selects proper storage areas, assembles shelving, and stores items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and potential for contamination.
  • Ensures all internal documentation is completed before items are released for delivery.
  • Dispatches and delivers materials and/or equipment to customers in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assembles and segregates merchandise for delivery and prepares appropriate documentation.
  • Delivers and retrieves equipment, furniture, supplies, and files to and from work or storage areas.
  • Assists in equipment/supply inventories, transport of equipment, and moving/storage of equipment.
  • Manages and maintains the disposition of property.
  • Assists in the inventory of records and shipment of records to off-site storage.
  • Observes warehouse safety and fire prevention regulations, ensuring warehouse and storage areas are kept tidy, safe, and secure.
  • Repairs and manages warranty claims as required.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement projects.
  • Inspects, categorizes, verifies, certifies, and processes all in and outbound FDIHB mail.
  • Processes mail in accordance with current postal regulations utilizing postal equipment.
  • Processes parcels to be shipped.
  • Maintains records, files, logs, and various reports.
  • Ensures postage funds are uploaded into the mail machine in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates billing activities with the Manager and Receiving Specialist.
  • Maintains the hospital mail room.
  • Unloads and packs trucks and courier vans as required.
  • Delivers and sets up equipment, tables, and chairs for hospital-related events.
  • Performs analysis of existing furniture regarding condition and suitability for renovation and relocation.
  • Assists departments with research and selection of furniture, design layouts, and procurement for new construction and/or renovation projects.
  • Coordinates delivery and assembly of furniture.
  • Applies knowledge, analysis, and management of office moves.
  • Ensures furniture and move services are provided within the allotted timeframe of the project.
  • Coordinates moves and renovations with other departments (e.g., Facilities, Safety).
  • Coordinates delivery and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment items.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by providing logistical services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
