Perform various manual tasks to collect, move, transport, and manage surplus materials and items in support of campus clients at The University of Texas at Austin.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Texas Class "C" driver's license. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of employment.
  • One year of hands-on experience with various phases of transportation services, including moving furniture and equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with basic hand tools.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree.
  • More than one year of experience in varied phases of transportation services, including moving furniture and equipment.
  • Operational experience with a forklift and pallet jack.

Responsibilities

  • Load, transport, unload, and relocate furniture and equipment as part of a team to collect, manage, and dispose of University property in support of campus clients.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds, while following safe work practices in support of daily operations.
  • Drive University-owned vehicles, including box trucks, to transport materials safely and efficiently in high-traffic areas.
  • When not driving, assist with ground-guiding and monitor surroundings to support safe vehicle operations.
  • Provide professional customer service to clients, customers, and visitors while representing Facilities Services and adhering to applicable policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients and follow written and verbal directions to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Operate manual and powered warehouse equipment to safely and efficiently handle materials during loading, transport, and unloading activities.
  • Complete required training and certifications using computer-based learning systems and other assigned training methods.
  • Attend and participate in team and departmental meetings.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support organizational goals and objectives, including occasional assistance with University special events.
