About The Position

The Warehouse Manager oversees all aspects of warehouse operations, inventory management, procurement, and distribution logistics in support of STWN programs, sales, drives, and grant fulfillment. This role leads staff and volunteers; collaborates with and community partners; maintains safety and compliance; and ensures the efficient, accurate movement of goods and educational materials. The Manager also oversees drivers, fleet, routing, and may perform driving duties as operational needs require.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, procurement, or inventory management with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including experience working with volunteers.
  • Familiarity with warehouse and inventory systems (FlowTrac or comparable WMS).
  • Demonstrated organizational and data management skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a physically active environment and lift/move 30–50 lbs as needed.
  • Forklift operation experience; ability to obtain/maintain forklift certification.
  • Valid Nevada Driver's License, current automobile insurance, and vehicle registration.
  • Current Nevada Driver's Record (within 30 days) and clean driving history.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in nonprofit, education, food bank, or volunteer-driven environments.
  • Knowledge of fleet management and route planning tools.

  • Certification in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and distribution.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Improve workflows and layout for optimal product flow, order accuracy, and space utilization.
  • Open and/or close the warehouse; ensure facility is clean, organized, and audit ready.
  • Oversee and optimize inventory processes and systems to ensure accurate stock tracking and reporting.
  • Oversee all book inventory, including incoming donations, bulk purchases, program allocations, and sales.
  • Monitor inventory levels; prepare reports on stock, turnover, losses, and trends; maintain scorecards/dashboards.
  • Plan delivery schedules and routes to ensure timely, cost-effective distribution to schools, partners, and events.
  • Oversee drivers and driving assignments; ensure proper load securement and delivery documentation.
  • Operate and/or supervise the operation of cargo vans, 24-foot box trucks, and forklifts; step in to drive as needed.
  • Coordinate pickups of community donations; serve as a positive representative with donors and partners.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise warehouse staff; provide coaching and performance feedback.
  • Ensure all personnel follow safety protocols, productivity standards, and quality expectations.
  • Manage timecards and mileage; coordinate cross-training and professional development.
  • Plan and lead volunteer shifts and projects; provide training and a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
  • Implement and maintain safety compliance (including forklift) and enforce protocols to minimize incidents.
  • Manage preventive maintenance and repairs for warehouse equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Implement strategic use of assets (racking, equipment, space) to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain and improve inventory tracking and procurement systems; ensure data integrity across tools.
  • Analyze and report warehouse KPIs (inventory accuracy, order cycle time, fill rate, on-time delivery).
  • Collaborate with Director of Programs planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate order fulfillment and shipping for bulk book sales.
  • Serve as liaison with internal teams (Programs, Development, Finance) and external partners, and vendors.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly and professionally; escalate risks and recommend solutions.
