About The Position

The Warehouse Lead performs all functions of Material Handlers and supervises their daily activity. This role assists the Supervisor in coordinating workflow and recommending work assignments. The Lead reviews orders and notices to determine work sequences, assigns work, and monitors productivity to ensure high standards of quality, accuracy, housekeeping, product damage minimization, safety, and overall efficiency. They conduct team talks or start-up meetings, plan assignments, and coordinate warehouse operations to ensure on-time deliveries while reducing irregularities and damage. The Lead is responsible for ensuring safety in work processes and Team Member performance by supporting safety programs, educating Team Members, and maintaining a safe work environment. They communicate policies, safety regulations, and SOPs, ensuring compliance and consistency, and assisting in corrective action when necessary. The position also ensures the facility is kept clean and orderly, product damage is minimized, and coaches/counsels Team Members on company culture, expectations, job performance, methods, and safety. The Lead informs the Supervisor of operating and performance issues, making recommendations for corrective action. They may drive vehicles or operate machines/equipment and make recommendations for improving work procedures, building efficiency, customer service, work conditions, product quality, and minimizing expenses. The role involves operating a lift truck for various material handling duties and requires reliable attendance and adherence to safety, security, food safety, SQF, and/or USDA requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • One (1) year related experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Ensures safety in work processes and Team Member performance by supporting company and/or facility safety programs, by educating Team Members, and by ensuring a generally safe work environment.
  • Communicates policies, safety regulations and SOPs to Team Members; follows-up to ensure compliance and consistency; assists in corrective action as necessary and documents the issue and actions taken.
  • Ensures that facility is maintained clean and in an orderly fashion.
  • Ensures that product damage is kept to a minimum.
  • Coaches and counsels Team Members regarding company culture and expectations, job performance, methods of performing job tasks and safety.
  • Informs Supervisor of all operating issues and problems and makes recommendations for corrective action to ensure quality warehouse operations and customer service.

  • Operates a lift truck performing various material handling duties in the facility as requested by Operations Manager of Shift Supervisor.
  • Reliable attendance for scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Performs all duties in conformance with the correct food safety, SQF, and/or USDA requirements, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
