About The Position

This position involves operating a lift truck to transport materials between various areas within the warehouse, including loading, unloading, processing, and storage. The role requires performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles, as well as manually loading and unloading materials. Reliability, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to perform assigned duties are crucial. Specific duties may include unloading inbound carriers, verifying product identification and counts, inspecting product condition, and moving products to storage locations. For preloading, responsibilities include reading preload orders, picking and staging products, inspecting and loading trucks, and using scanning devices. Truck loaders will inspect trailers, count units, move products into trailers, arrange products according to guidelines, and secure loads.

Requirements

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
One to two years related experience
Basic scanner technology.
Valid State Driver’s License
Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time.
Ability and willingness to work the voluntary/mandatory overtime that is required during the busy season.
Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous and professional manner with others.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as receivers, invoices, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and write simple sentences.
Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and management.
Ability to maintain a level of production that meets or exceeds the established guidelines.

Responsibilities

Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to be able to look in the direction of travel on a continual basis.
Operates a lift truck all shift.
Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refers defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
Moves controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transports materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
Unloads products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars).
Verifies that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
Inspects condition of all received product.
Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
Receives and reads preload orders.
Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging that product on a spot utilizing stacking guidelines.
Inspects and loads trucks and arranges the products with the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
Uses scanning devise and computer as needed to perform tasks.
Checks printout for shortages, over-counts and incorrect model numbers.
Corrects shortages, over-counts and incorrect models where possible.
Inspects trailers before loading products.
Counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents.
Moves products from the preload spot, and directly from storage when required, into the trailer.
Arranges the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
Properly secures the load for travel.
