About The Position

This position is responsible for operating a lift truck to transport materials between various areas within the warehouse. The role involves performing routine inspections on vehicles and equipment, moving controls to operate lifting devices, and manually loading/unloading materials. The job requires reliable attendance, adherence to safety standards, and may involve specific duties related to unloading inbound carriers, preloading orders, and inspecting/loading trucks according to established guidelines. Basic computer or tablet skills and the ability to use a hand-held radio are also necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
  • Two (2) years related experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Forklift Certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to be able to look in the direction of travel on a continual basis.
  • Operates a lift truck all shift.
  • Performs routine inspections on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refers defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Moves controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transports materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secures material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Unloads products from inbound carriers.
  • Verifies that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
  • Inspects condition of all received product.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Receives and reads preload orders.
  • Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging that product on a spot utilizing stacking guideline.
  • Inspects and loads trucks and arranges the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
  • Uses scanning device and computer as needed to perform tasks.
  • Inspects trailers before loading products.
  • Counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents.
  • Moves products from the preload spot, and directly from storage when required, into the trailer.
  • Arranges the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
  • Properly secures the load for travel.
