About The Position

Scholastic Book Fairs create in-person experiences that empower children to discover books. This role is for a Part Time Seasonal Equipment Operator to assist facilities in building book fairs for schools. These positions offer varied hours during peak school year periods (Monday-Friday) and are typically off during summer and winter school leave. This is a safety-sensitive position, and Power Equipment Operators must pass a drug test before operating equipment in a Scholastic facility.

Requirements

Certified to operate battery/gas-powered equipment including but not limited to forklifts, stock pickers, wave trucks, counterbalanced lifts, reach trucks, pallet jack and scissor lifts.
High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
Strong team player and the ability to get along with co-workers.
Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read documents in English, such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Basic experience and familiarity with the fundamental capabilities of computers and communications systems.

Nice To Haves

Comfortable working at significant heights as the primary piece of equipment is the Order Picker.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate proficiency and effectiveness in functions of PEO – Level I, including inventory movements, cycle counts, perform daily equipment inspections, and asset storage.
Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy, and quality standards for all work performed.
Follow all safety policies, processes, and procedures.
Ensure work area is neat, clean, safe, and organized per operational standards.
At any time may work on temporary projects associated with other position descriptions as part of individual and team development.
Dependability & Reliability: Is reliable and dependable in fulfilling obligations. Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance in accordance with SBF policy.
Responsible for proper handling of product at all times.
Planning & Organizing: Plans and prioritizes work to manage time effectively and accomplish assigned tasks.
Recording details of all work tasks performed accurately and completely.
Working with Tools & Technology: Demonstrates appropriate use of tools and technology to complete work functions according to standard process and procedures.
