About The Position

Schewels Home is a family-owned retail furniture company in its fifth generation of ownership. The Warehouse Delivery Driver supports efficient delivery operations by assisting with warehouse work, safely delivering and placing merchandise in customers’ homes, and maintaining the delivery truck. The role also includes customer service, merchandise handling, paperwork, and inventory support. The manager may add or change duties as needed.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read and understand delivery paperwork, merchandise tickets, and safety regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain a neat, orderly work area.
• Good communication and time-management skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods; walk, talk, hear, and use hands to handle or feel objects.
• Ability to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Frequently lift at least 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
• Ability to visually inspect merchandise and delivery documents.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload trucks to prevent damage to merchandise.
• Assist with receiving and stocking merchandise, verify accuracy, and report discrepancies.
• Maintain proper staging and loading areas.
• Drive the delivery truck to customers’ homes, safely unload and place merchandise, and assemble furniture as required.
• Become familiar with merchandise to support efficient deliveries.
• Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and report truck issues to management.
• Keep the truck fueled, clean, and maintained.
• Help maintain a clean and safe warehouse.
• Pick up merchandise from other stores, complete paperwork, and report discrepancies.
• Maintain a neat appearance and professional attitude when serving customers.
• Complete delivery paperwork, obtain customer signatures on tickets, and account for CODs.
• Demonstrate honesty, dependability, and professionalism in serving customers.
• Perform duties for absent personnel.
• Assist with physical store inventories as needed.
