About The Position

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for various tasks within the warehouse, including shipping and receiving, checking inventory, order picking, and loading products. This role requires operating equipment such as forklifts and clamp trucks, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and performing daily equipment inspections. The position also involves ensuring proper stock rotation, verifying product receipt at appropriate temperatures, and identifying and reporting any damages, shortages, or overages. Key responsibilities include unloading and loading trailers, accurately counting product, comparing counts to manifests, and checking shipments for damage and production codes. Associates must be able to move, stack, and store products in designated areas. Order picking involves accurately pulling and preparing product for shipment, ensuring correct product and lot numbers are used, and meeting customer service standards. Loading duties involve efficiently moving product to railcars or trailers. Equipment operation requires safe and efficient use of forklifts, clamp trucks, and other power equipment, along with daily inspections and reporting of any issues. The role also includes assisting with physical inventories using scanners and maintaining a professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Previous high reach forklift and/or warehouse training
  • Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Lift up to 70lbs occasionally with assistance
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Be able to speak and hear for safety and productivity.
  • Use scanners, tablets, radio, phones, and other warehouse machinery.
  • Lift overhead when required
  • Ability to work overtime is an essential part of this position due to demand
  • Drive a registered motor vehicle to satisfy daily requirements.
  • Have acceptable and / or correctable vision.
  • Work in a temperature range of +50 to -30 degrees F with moderate noise levels
  • Personal interaction and communication required to and from other people is extremely high.
  • Good arithmetic and reading skills.
  • Understand and follow verbal instruction, written instruction and company policies.
  • A self-starter that can work independently and coordinate with others.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage stress and productivity guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Unload and load trailers, verifying proper stacking and ensuring freight is not mixed on pallets.
  • Tape or stretch-wrap pallets as required to ensure product stability.
  • Count all product prior to storage, compare counts to drivers’ manifest, and check shipments for damage, infestation, and production code dates.
  • Report shortages, damages, and misplacements to the immediate supervisor.
  • Move product to storage locations and stack/store product in appropriate areas.
  • Verify receipt of product at appropriate temperature.
  • Identify and recover any received or shipping damage consistent with Company policy.
  • Report all shortages and overages to the area supervisor.
  • Assist in physical inventories with the use of scanners, if needed.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation by following lot number identification.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring exact number and type of product is located and shipped.
  • Ensure product comes from the proper locations and lot numbers correspond to picking documents.
  • Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards.
  • Efficiently move product from staging or storage areas into railcars or trailers.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, slip-sheet, or other power equipment.
  • Maintain facilities, equipment, and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Perform daily inspections and verify equipment is operating prior to the start of the day’s activity.
  • Advise supervisor of any problems encountered.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in appearance and communications at all times.
  • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings as required.
  • Take initiative to prevent non-conformities related to product, process, and quality of systems.
  • Identify and record any issues relating to product, processes, and/or quality.
  • Propose and implement solutions through appropriate channels.
  • Ensure solutions are effectively implemented.
  • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
  • Participate in safety and educational training programs.
