About The Position

Hassler Heating and Air Conditioning is seeking an experienced HVAC Warehouse Assistant to support the daily operations of our El Cerrito warehouse. The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for receiving, organizing, staging, and distributing HVAC equipment, parts, and materials to ensure our installation crews and service technicians are fully supplied and ready to deliver outstanding service to our customers. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, familiarity with HVAC components, and the ability to keep a busy warehouse running efficiently and safely.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience, with at least 2 years in an HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related building-trades supply environment.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, parts, and terminology (residential and light commercial).
  • Proficiency with Service Titan software and basic computer skills (email, Microsoft Office, mobile devices).
  • Current forklift certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record; able to be insured under company policy.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly and 100 lbs occasionally, with team lifts for heavier equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and reach throughout the workday in a warehouse environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Type I, II, or Universal).
  • Experience with HVAC distributor systems or contractor inventory platforms (e.g., ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, Trakref).
  • Familiarity with major HVAC brands such as Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Mitsubishi, Daikin, Bryant, or Rheem.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Prior experience supporting a multi-truck installation and service operation.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming shipments of HVAC equipment, parts, refrigerants, sheet metal, ductwork, and accessories; verify quantities and condition against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Accurately log inventory transactions in the warehouse management system and maintain up-to-date stock records.
  • Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with quarterly and annual physical inventory audits; investigate and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Identify slow-moving, damaged, or obsolete inventory and coordinate returns, RGAs, or disposal with the Warehouse Manager.
  • Pull, stage, and load daily job materials for installation crews and service technicians based on work orders and job tickets.
  • Verify staged materials match job requirements before crews depart, including condensers, air handlers, furnaces, coils, line sets, thermostats, filters, and miscellaneous parts.
  • Prepare special-order parts and same-day pickups for technicians in the field; coordinate with dispatch on urgent requests.
  • Process returns from job sites, restock usable items, and document warranty returns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safely arranged warehouse, including bin locations, shelving, and outdoor equipment yard.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move equipment and pallets safely.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks, vans, and customer vehicles.
  • Assist with local deliveries and parts runs to job sites or supplier locations as needed.
  • Perform basic maintenance on warehouse equipment and report any issues promptly.
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, and Cal/OSHA safety standards, including proper handling and storage of refrigerants and compressed gases.
  • Adhere to company safety procedures, including proper PPE use, lifting techniques, and lockout/tagout where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for refrigerant tracking and hazardous materials per EPA Section 608 requirements.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near-misses immediately to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Communicate professionally with installers, service technicians, dispatchers, purchasing, and office staff.
  • Support purchasing by flagging low stock and recommending reorder points based on usage trends.
  • Provide backup coverage for other warehouse team members during absences or peak demand.
