About The Position

The General Laborer helps meet production requirements by hand-sorting materials such as wooden pallets, boxes, and plastic bins. The work is split between hand-sorting pallets and repairing pallets, with cross-training on forklift operation as needed. The position is located at 1111 Macom Dr, DeKalb, IL 60115, and pays $17.50 per hour. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The work may involve extreme conditions, including heat, cold, outdoor elements, and airborne particulates. Employees repeatedly lift up to 50–75 pounds and may need to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand throughout shifts. Noise levels depend on the work location. Personal protective equipment is required, including eye protection and safety shoes; ear protection is mandatory at several locations. The job requires close, distance, and color vision. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• High degree of attention to prevent injury to others.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary.
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50–75 pounds and bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts.
• Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
• Use required personal protective equipment, including eye protection and safety shoes; ear protection is mandatory at several locations.

Responsibilities

• Hand-stack materials appropriately.
• Load and unload materials by hand into trailers.
• Move materials on pallets or in crates around the storage facility.
• Check loads to ensure they are secure.
• Examine products to verify they meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Hand-sort and repair pallets, boxes, plastic bins, and other materials.
