Requirements

  • Must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math (add, subtract, divide, multiply) and write legibly.
  • Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to use proper lifting techniques.
  • The ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety is extremely important.
  • Must be able to handle stress caused in meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements.
  • Must be able to shift priorities easily.
  • Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
  • Must have excellent work habits.
  • Must be familiar with warehouse systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Fork-lift certification may be required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all vendor safety practices are adhered to, instruct others of proper safety practices and advise supervisor of abuses
  • Work closely with the shift lead to ensure a smooth operation for the day and for the week. All inconsistencies to the plan will be discussed with the supervisor.
  • Maintain the level of appearance of the warehouse expected by the Expeditors culture
  • Check for and verify all documentation while completing required processes accurately and efficiently
  • Unload and load cargo in a safely, accurately and efficiently
  • Arrange for the transfer of cargo using radio, telephone and computer communication
  • Responsible for updating and entering event codes when necessary
  • Responsible for conducting cycle counts, physical inventories and the overall accuracy of the inventory stored within the facility.
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in the process of moving products safely.
