About The Position

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is seeking a Wall Climbing Instructor to join its Recreation team and deliver safe, engaging climbing experiences on its 40-foot outdoor rock climbing wall. The role provides climbing instruction, ensures participant safety, leads recreational programs, and creates memorable experiences for members and guests ages six and older. The instructor also helps maintain operational excellence and supports the climbing program’s continued growth.

Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
Ability to climb at an intermediate level; 5.8+ top-rope preferred.
Ability to work comfortably at height and perform climbing rescue procedures.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and work outdoors for extended periods.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance consistent with Ponte Vedra Inn & Club standards.
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and other hours as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

Minimum one year of climbing instruction, recreation programming, or related experience preferred.
Previous resort, private club, recreation, outdoor adventure, or hospitality experience preferred.
Advanced Climbing Wall Association certifications preferred.
Additional climbing, outdoor recreation, or adventure education certifications preferred.
Ability to climb 5.8+ top-rope preferred.

Responsibilities

Welcome members and guests and provide exceptional customer service.
Conduct safety orientations, fit equipment, and provide climbing instruction to participants ages six and older.
Teach proper belay techniques and climbing fundamentals to beginner and returning climbers.
Supervise multiple climbing stations while maintaining safe instructor-to-participant ratios.
Inspect harnesses, helmets, ropes, belay systems, anchors, and climbing equipment daily.
Enforce climbing wall safety procedures, operational standards, and emergency protocols.
Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, accidents, and emergencies.
Assist with private instruction, youth programs, camps, birthday parties, and special events.
Process participant check-ins, waivers, reservations, and activity registrations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming climbing environment.
Participate in ongoing training, certification renewals, safety drills, and professional development programs.
Support the Head Climbing Instructor with daily operations, program enhancements, and operational improvements.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations and guest experiences.
