About The Position

Chartwells Higher Ed is hiring full-time and part-time Waiters/Waitresses at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The role takes food and beverage orders and delivers them efficiently to dining room guests. Schedules and hours may vary based on events and location needs; details are provided during the interview. Prior customer service experience is preferred, and training is available. The position pays $17.00–$20.00 per hour. Perks include holidays off, free shift meals, and advancement opportunities. The role requires providing warm and prompt guest service, understanding menu items and ingredients, and coordinating with back-of-house staff to ensure orders and special requests are handled correctly. The Waiter/Waitress maintains food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and confidentiality standards; handles tickets and cash according to procedures; and helps prepare and reset the dining room. The position may also involve supporting other departments during special events and functions. The position is based in an educational facility. Work may be reduced or temporarily unavailable during school breaks, potentially resulting in unpaid periods; depending on business needs, associates may be required to work year-round or at another location during breaks. Requirements

Prior customer service experience is preferred; the employer is willing to train.

Responsibilities

Greet guests promptly and warmly, take food and beverage orders efficiently, and follow established steps of service.
Deliver food promptly and professionally while following safe food-handling and sanitation standards.
Follow up with guests to address additional needs or requests.
Understand menu items and ingredients, advise guests on food and drink combinations when requested, and accommodate reasonable requests and preferences.
Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed.
Communicate with back-of-house staff to ensure orders are correct and special requests are accommodated.
Communicate effectively and patiently with guests and staff, and work well with others.
Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
Protect the sensitivity and confidentiality of personal or medical information shared.
Address guest complaints or issues promptly and relay relevant information to a supervisor.
Set up the dining room before service and keep it clean and orderly during and after service in accordance with sanitation standards.
Operate equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea and soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
Work with staff from other departments during special events and functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
