This role involves taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests. The position requires prompt and warm greeting of guests, efficient order taking following established steps of service, and professional delivery of food while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards. The waiter/waitress will also be responsible for demonstrating complete understanding of menu items and ingredients, advising guests on food and drink combinations, accommodating reasonable requests, and noting preferences. Knowledge of specialized diets and allergens is also required. Communication with back-of-the-house staff to ensure correct order delivery and accommodation of special requests is essential. The role demands exceptional communication skills, the ability to get along well with others, and flexibility and patience when interacting with guests and staff. Responsibilities include collecting tickets, following proper cash-handling procedures, promoting a clean and safe environment, and maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information. Promptly addressing complaints or issues and relaying relevant information to supervisors is also part of the job. The waiter/waitress will ensure the dining room is properly set up before and after service periods, keeping the area clean and neat while meeting sanitation standards. Operation of various equipment, including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines, is expected. Collaboration with staff from other departments for special events and functions, and performing other assigned duties, are also required.
