WAITER/WAITRESS
About The Position
Pines Village is a not-for-profit organization serving older adults through senior living, home care, medical services, and wellness programs. The Waiter/Waitress, referred to as a Server in the posting, helps deliver an attentive, friendly, and efficient dining experience. The role involves taking and entering orders, serving food and beverages, addressing guest needs, coordinating with kitchen and bar staff, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area. The position is in person in Whiting, New Jersey. Evening availability, particularly 3:00–7:15, is preferred; morning availability is a plus.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
- Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous customer service or food service experience preferred but not required.
- One year of experience in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality environment preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred.
- Bilingual abilities are described as helpful for communicating with a broader range of guests.
- Morning availability is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Greet and seat guests courteously and professionally.
- Present menus, explain daily specials, and answer questions about menu items and ingredients.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the point-of-sale system.
- Serve food and drinks promptly while ensuring order accuracy and presentation standards.
- Check in with guests during meals, confirm satisfaction, and address additional requests.
- Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to provide smooth and timely service.
- Handle guest payments, provide accurate change, and process electronic transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and service stations.
- Follow health and safety regulations and company policies.
