About The Position

Nivoda is hiring a VP, Strategic Finance to own how the company plans, reports and is funded. The role sits on the Extended Leadership Team, reports to the Chief Financial Officer, and may be based in London, Amsterdam or Stockholm. It is remote-first, with travel as needed. The VP will present directly to the board, investors and receivables lender, work with the CFO on equity and debt financing, and build a finance function focused on consistent, reliable delivery. The role owns annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting and long-range planning, as well as scenario and funding cases for the C-suite and board. It is accountable for forecast accuracy and honest post-mortems. The VP also owns the monthly board pack and reporting for investors and the receivables lender, including covenant reporting and onsite diligence, and serves as the primary contact for analytical questions from those audiences. Other areas of ownership include corporate finance; commercial and unit economics; and business partnering across Product and Engineering, Fulfilment, Fintech and commercial teams. The VP leads the finance team, establishes review standards and a deliverables calendar, agrees data contracts with the Data team, and owns the finance tooling and modelling stack. Success is measured by on-time delivery, errors caught internally, forecast accuracy and the ability of multiple people to produce recurring deliverables. The position calls for a hands-on finance leader who can set standards and develop a team rather than personally build every difficult model. Deadlines are fixed, and the role requires communicating difficult decisions early and managing business demands with the CFO’s backing.

Requirements

  • Background in investment banking, FP&A or venture capital, with experience building models used by senior stakeholders to make decisions.
  • Experience leading a team, directly or through managers, and interest in the management responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience presenting to boards, investors or lenders as the person answering questions directly.
  • Working understanding of marketplace dynamics, including two-sided liquidity, take rates, usage-based revenue without a contract, and the effects of foreign exchange.
  • Strong capability in complex cohort modelling.
  • Comfort with Snowflake and a modern BI tool.
  • Treat AI tooling as part of the finance technology stack and favour fixing data pipelines over repeatedly reformatting outputs.
  • Calm under pressure, low ego, candid, and willing to communicate uncomfortable information early.
  • Able to meet fixed month-end, board and lender deadlines and manage significant demands from across the business.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with receivables financing or lender reporting.
  • Experience in a multi-jurisdiction group.
  • Experience with NetSuite.
  • Experience in a business that trades physical goods across borders.

Responsibilities

  • Own the annual budget, quarterly reforecast, long-range plan, and scenario and funding cases for the C-suite and board.
  • Maintain forecast accuracy against agreed tolerances and conduct post-mortems when results miss or exceed forecasts.
  • Own the monthly board pack and its underlying numbers, and prepare reporting for existing and prospective investors and the receivables lender.
  • Prepare covenant reporting and support onsite diligence; present to board, investor and lender audiences and answer their analytical questions directly.
  • Build models and documentation for equity and debt financing, analyse term sheets, work with the People team on cap table and option pool matters, and support the CFO on transactions.
  • Own cohort economics, customer lifetime value, geographic and segment profitability, and returns on marketing and sales spend.
  • Work with the CRO’s organisation to build quota and commission models aligned with targets, incentives and the forecast.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering, Fulfilment, Fintech and commercial teams on build-versus-buy decisions, hiring cases, pricing and fee experiments, and capital allocation.
  • Lead the finance team, including hiring, onboarding, objectives, development and performance management, with written objectives and regular structured feedback.
  • Set the team’s review standards and deliverables calendar, agree data contracts with the Data team, and own finance tooling including Snowflake, NetSuite, ThoughtSpot, Claude and the modelling stack.
  • Organise, prioritise and delegate work to meet the needs of a 450-person company; make a data-supported case for hiring or automation when needed.
  • Ensure external-facing numbers reconcile to primary sources and receive review by someone other than their author before release.
  • Deliver a first version of business line P&Ls by day 180 and help establish shared metric definitions between FP&A and the Data team.

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours.
  • Remote-first company culture.
  • Unlimited holiday allowance.
  • Participation in the company equity programme.
  • Opportunities for growth, internal promotion and development investment.
