About The Position

The Vice President of Sales - Target is responsible for the Kids2 business at Target, focusing on delivering specific business results including sales and profit within an allocated spend budget. This role also involves accountability for sales team management, growth, and development, as well as cross-functional leadership. Beyond near-term delivery, the VP of Sales will support a three-year plan for growth and resource management.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the sales process, as well as the impact of other functions on the sales process, and the ability to translate these practices into go to market strategies
  • Demonstrated experience with Target – has an understanding of the customer and experience working directly with Target
  • In depth understanding of eCommerce market and necessary capabilities to grow within that channel of business
  • Experience leveraging insights and category management to drive business results
  • People management, with the demonstrated ability to hire the best people and motivate and grow high performance teams
  • Must have a “team first” collaborative approach to leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others in an innovative and changing environment
  • 15+ years leadership experience in consumer products, with a minimum of 5 years in senior management capacity.
  • Proven leadership in Marketing, Operations, and business development within US.
  • Demonstrated experience launching and distributing products into consumer markets with measurable success, deep understanding of the customers (particularly in the US market) and experience working with suppliers, partners, retailers, and distribution channels in these same markets.
  • Thorough understanding, experience with and ability to leverage insights and category management to drive business results
  • Mentor, coach and train the team and build the required competencies for success.
  • Working knowledge of Industry financials, accounting procedures, trade financials, leadership and management policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in benchmarking of CPG trends and initiatives
  • Must have a “team first” approach to leadership, including strong intellectual, strategic, and analytical ability to work cross functionally with a collaborative style.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build execution roadmap on a three-year horizon for sales
  • Deliver annual business targets – Net Sales, Earnings and Share
  • Accountable for talent management and development of team
  • Lead teams in preparing and developing customer plans and budgets
  • Directly build and maintain customer relationships to increase sales
  • Partner with analytics/ops to ensure accurate forecasting
  • Attend & lead key retailer meetings as needed
  • Maintain an effective knowledge of external market factors, in partnership with Insights
  • Provide critical customer input on Kids2 go-to-market (i.e. new item launches, spend deployment, pack creation, etc.) plans and activity sets
