About The Position

The VP Recovery Operations role at Barclays is a key leadership position responsible for managing operations within a specific business area, ensuring adherence to processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves overseeing the execution of recovery strategies across the business, including monitoring the performance of third-party Debt Collection Agencies and Legal Networks to ensure alignment with business objectives and risk standards. The successful candidate will lead a team of Recovery professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to enhance delivery quality, and will be instrumental in building and maintaining effective supplier relationships to foster sustainable performance and compliance. Responsibilities also include identifying trends and opportunities for process improvement through data analysis, developing KPIs, and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to align operations with the bank's objectives and SLAs. The VP is expected to contribute to or set strategy, manage resources, budgets, and policies, drive continuous improvements, and ensure a safe and supportive environment for colleagues, while also managing attrition through retention initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience leading and developing teams within a recovery or collections environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Recovery processes, including strategy execution and oversight.
  • Proven experience driving performance and accountability across third- and fourth-party suppliers.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of legal and court processes related to recovery and collections.
  • Working knowledge of NeuAnalytics or similar middleware platforms used for account placement execution.
  • Solid controls background, with experience operating in a risk-managed and regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives and compliance with relevant regulators.
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve areas and develop new process and procedures through the monitoring and analysis of operation data and performance metrices.
  • Manage operations for a business area and promote efficient processes, risk management and compliance initiatives to support the bank's operations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including business leaders, project manager and SMEs) and external stakeholders (including vendors and service providers) to support business operations and promote alignment with the bank's objectives and SLAs.
  • Manage operational professionals and provide guidance, coaching and support to improve colleagues' delivery quality.
  • Manage and develop KPIs to measure the effectiveness of operation functions, utilising data and technology to support the identification of areas that require improvement.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience.
  • Create a safe environment for colleagues to speak up, actively and regularly encourage and solicit feedback to ensure people agenda remains focused on the right areas.
  • Manage attrition by working closely with HR in implementing retention initiatives for work force.
  • Contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/ processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures.
  • Define jobs and responsibilities, planning for the department’s future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes (if managing a team).
  • Lead a number of specialists to influence the operations of a department, in alignment with strategic as well as tactical priorities, while balancing short and long term goals and ensuring that budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements (if managing a team).
