The Vice President of Operations is a key member of Stinker’s Executive Leadership Team and the force behind turning big ideas into bigger results. This hands-on leader oversees Operations, Marketing, and Category Management with one mission: drive sales, grow margin, and make more people say, “Let’s stop at Stinker.” Equal parts strategist, operator, and growth driver, this role ensures every store delivers a clean, fast, friendly experience while keeping our brand spark impossible to ignore. From fuel to fountain drinks, promotions to private label, this leader knows how to make the numbers climb and the brand stand taller. Requirements

  • Solution focused thinking. You get 5 minutes to complain and then we solve problems.
  • Effective time management. As with most things today, this role wears a lot of hats and there are a lot of moving pieces and skunks headed in multiple directions!
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in retail, convenience retail, food service, or multi-unit operations.
  • Senior leadership experience overseeing multiple operational disciplines.
  • Proven experience leading large teams and developing leaders.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, category management, merchandising, food service, and guest experience.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational performance and profitability.
  • Experience managing budgets, KPIs, labor models, and operational scorecards.
  • Frequent travel may be required across our multi-state

Responsibilities

  • Set and lead the enterprise strategy for Retail Operations, Marketing, Food Service and Category Management, aligning all four functions to accelerate sales growth, expand margin, and make the Stinker brand even harder to miss.
  • Serve as a people leader and mentor to translate company objectives into clear strategic priorities for downstream leaders, ensuring Regional, District, Marketing, and Category teams know where we’re headed and how to win when they get there.
  • Champion innovation, test-and-learn discipline, and continuous improvement efforts that keep Stinker scrappy, competitive, and one step ahead of the other guys, elevating Stinker as the first choice for work, convenience, food, family and fun!
  • Shape the long-range margin strategy through pricing architecture, category portfolio decisions, private label expansion, promotional effectiveness, and vendor partnerships that do more than just smell good on paper.
  • Carry full operational P&L accountability, balancing growth investments with disciplined cost management to deliver EBITDA, cash flow, and return targets.
  • Partner with Finance to prioritize capital allocation, ensuring remodels, labor investments, technology, and merchandising initiatives generate measurable ROI.
  • Drive enterprise commercial strategy that increases traffic, basket size, trip frequency, and same-store sales across both fuel and inside business lines
  • Use enterprise KPIs, market trends, customer insights, and competitive intelligence to spot the next big win before the competition catches a whiff and also to establish standards, routines and accountability systems.
  • Establish and evolve scalable playbooks, SOPs, and labor models that enable growth without adding complexity, waste, or friction for field teams.
  • Ensure food programs align with brand positioning and guest expectations by partnering with the Director of Food Service to improve menu, execute our program safely and consistently and ensure we are delivering a positive guest experience.
  • Serve as a visible culture leader who sets high standards, celebrates wins, and keeps teams inspired to raise a positive stink.
  • Make hard decisions when priorities compete. Find the balance between speed, cost, quality and guest impact to keep a positive trajectory.
